Great location — The heart of Reykjavík

The Old Bicycle Shop is slap bang in the middle of the best part of town. The area is called Þingholtin and if you put Spítalastigur 8 (our address) into Google Maps you will find us sitting just above the city lake off the main shopping streets. One of the best restaurants in Reykjavík, Snaps is three houses to our right. In fact, we are surrounded by wonderful cafe’s, restaurants, bars, bakeries and shops, all within a 2 to 3 min walk. We are locals so know the area extremely well and give our guests tips and recommendations regarding all the best spots in Reykjavik and beyond. We hope to offer a different experience to a standard hotel, more homely and much more authentically Icelandic.

The lakeside cottage nestles at the foot of Medalfell mountain right
down at the water´s edge.

The views are spectacular, of the lake and its surrounding mountain scape. It is a tranquil place. It has 3 bedrooms and an open plan kitchen and sitting room.

It is right on the lake with the garden down to the shoreline. The cottage is cosy and homely and it is only a 30 min drive from Reykjavik.

The lakeside is lush with greenery and in parts is beautifully wooded. There is a little cafe by the lake which sells general groceries and serves food, mainly burgers. It also has a bar. It is only open in the summer months. The lakeside has a little community of cottages and is surrounded by farms.
